Should I Hire a Professional to Install AquaTread or Can I DIY?

Follow These 5 Tips for Optimum Boat Flooring Installation.

Individual boaters and pontoon owners choose AquaTread® Marine Flooring for its ease of installation and maintenance. Sure… you can hire a professional to do the boat flooring installation, but you don’t need to spend the extra time waiting for someone else and you don’t need to spend the extra money either. AquaTread was designed with DIY boat installation in mind.

Our lay flat, trim to fit roll out marine flooring makes for easy installation without seams, welds and joints. AquaTread’s advanced Spun bound backing helps DIY boat installs go quicker and easier because the welded backer helps grab adhesive tight. To maximize the AquaTread pontoon boat flooring lifecycle, proper subfloor preparation and installation with compatible products in a suitable environmental range is required. AquaTread provides best installation practices, but please always consult the manufacturers who supply each separate component of your decking system to ensure compatibility and possible conflicts with installation practices.

Below are 5 tips and tricks surrounding the installation environment that will ensure the best pontoon boat flooring installation outcome.

  1. When storing AquaTread vinyl marine flooring, please keep in a dry environment with temperatures ranging from 60° to 100°
  1. Before starting your marine vinyl flooring installation, you’ll need to determine a location that is out of direct sunlight and with a lower humidity level. Heat and humidity can affect adhesives and the installation process.
  1. All products (AquaTread roll out boat flooring and marine adhesive) must be allowed to acclimate to your chosen site for 24 hours prior to vinyl boat flooring installation.
  1. We do not recommend unrolling AquaTread vinyl sheet rolls if the temperature is below 60°
  1. For optimal pontoon flooring installation, the minimum temperature should be no less than 65 degrees for 24 hours before, during and 24 hours after installation.
